The first thing you need to know about SoftTree’s SQL Assistant is that it is not meant for regular users, it is meant for database developers. If you fit the bill, if you are a developer, then you need to know that SQL Assistant will give your productivity a welcome boost. It does this by giving you easy access to a set of tools that will make your life easier, that will help you get things done faster.

The setup wizard that helps you get SQL Assistant up and running asks you to choose between a Custom, Compact, and a Full Installation. The Full Installation includes the following components: help files, core files ( SQL Assistant for Oracle, DB2, MySQL, and more), data libraries, and an uninstaller. The setup wizard will also ask you to pick an initial configuration. You can choose one of the following: Professional (recommended for DBAs and database developers), Developer (recommended for app developers), and Beginner (recommended for all others).

Double click the SQL Assistant icon in the system tray and you will be presented with the very easy to use Options window. What makes SQL Assistant Options so easy to navigate is the fact that tabs for all the features and functions are presented at the top: Targets, DB Options, Code Formatting, Code Refactoring, Code Snippets, Code Generator, Unit Tests, Data Generator, Source Control, About.
Right click the SQL Assistant icon in the system tray and you will be presented with a context menu that features the following: Target, Suspend All, Options, About, Help, Check for updates, Exit.
Hover the mouse over the system tray icon and you will be presented with some interesting statistics.

As mentioned above, SQL Assistant’s main purpose is to make life easier for developers by providing them with the ultimate productivity tools. To better put things in perspective, here’s a quick look at SQL Assistant’s main features: support for numerous SQL and non-SQL editors, code completion technology, SQL code layout, advanced database refactoring, database unit testing, data generation, data scripting, multi-server code execution. As SoftTree Technologies explained, with SQL Assistant’s tools, a developer can see a productivity boost of up to 300%.

Stop wasting time and get things done almost three times as fast with the properly good tool for database development, SQL Assistant.

Pros

You can choose between a Full, Compact, and Custom installation. You can choose between a Professional, Developer, and Beginner initial configuration. The interface is very easy to navigate. Powerful tools to boost productivity are offered by SQL Assistant.

Cons

Free to use for a 14-day trial period.
